Harvey John
Founder of Developing Room Films and The Developing Room, Harvey is a London-based producer & screenwriter specialising in genre-driven storytelling. His work combines the emotional intimacy of character-led drama with the imaginative possibilities of the fantastic, using speculative worlds and heightened realities to explore urgent contemporary themes. He is particularly interested in queer narratives and stories that reflect the complexities of modern Britain — examining identity, community, and change through bold, original genre frameworks. Most recently, he was selected to participate in the Torino Film Lab Next Feature Film 2026 development programme, and won the Grand Prize in Shore Script's 2024 Spring Short Film Fund. In both 2025 and 2026, Harvey was a Jury Member for the Raindance Film Festival Script Competition.
